An archery target butt (terčovnica) is the essential material you shoot into, where your arrows embed safely, and onto which paper target faces are pinned. These targets are manufactured from high-density layered Polyfoam (the same durable material used for premium camping mats). Layered polyfoam stands out as one of the best contemporary archery target materials on the market.

⚠️ Alternative note: While straw bales or soft DIY materials can be used as cheap alternatives, materials like cardboard or carpets are too dense, abrasive, and harsh on your arrows. Investing in dedicated archery polyfoam ensures your equipment lasts significantly longer.

• Recommendation: We highly recommend the thicker 14 cm version. It provides a longer lifespan, stops arrows more effectively, and allows for a much better center-replacement repair in the future.

• Design Note: The target is built from multiple bonded foam layers with exposed, uncovered sides (exactly as shown in the product image).

🛠️ Important Safety & Usage Guidelines:

• Clearance Behind the Target: Never place any hard material (such as wooden boards or walls) within 0.5 meters behind the target. Leave an open, free space instead.

• Arrow Penetration is Normal: It is completely natural for thin arrows or arrows shot from fast, high-performance bows to pass through the target by a few centimeters. This ensures a smooth, friction-based braking process that prevents damage and significantly extends the lifespan of your arrows.

• How to Repair a Shot-Out Target: When the center becomes worn out, a circular core can be cut out. We provide this cutting and refurbishing service for €12.00. A special heavy-duty yellow foam insert can then be pushed into place. This insert can stop virtually all bows and crossbows and typically lasts 1 to 3 years for an individual archer (see our "Target Inserts" category).

• Backstop Safety: For extra safety behind the target, we recommend installing a Kevlar arrow backstop net (minimum size 2.7 x 3 meters), which reliably catches stray arrows for bows up to 35 lbs.
